Important town of the north region of Czech Forest. In the first half of 12th century the prince Soběslav buil here an guard castle. The town was originated in the end of 13rd century. In the year 1421 was the town besieged by Hussites, but it was dispath after 6 years. The chateau is dipterous classical from the year 1810. Other important buildings are regotized church of Ascension of Virgin from 14th century or gothic church of St. Wenceslas from 14th century. interesting is also the alley of 500 rare trees, which was originated in the year 1971 by prince Windischgrätz.
